The selection of a spray gun is relatively simple. There are three important selection factors: nozzle diameter, paint output, and spray width.
When choosing a paint spray gun, you can choose the appropriate nozzle diameter based on the viscosity of the paint, the flow rate of the paint, and the amount of paint required to be sprayed, or make a specific selection based on the actual paint discharge volume and spray width. In addition, different types of paint guns are used in different industry fields. You can also refer to the types of paint guns commonly used in the same industry to make your selection.
Listed below are some common application areas and the types of spray guns available.
1) Spray primer. In the coating, it mainly plays the role of filling up the gaps and increasing the thickness of the coating. Therefore, the primer has larger particle size, larger viscosity and larger specific gravity, which emphasizes the larger paint output. It is recommended that the diameter of the nozzle be larger, and the paint storage tank below should also be larger. (Caliber 2.0~2.5mm)
2) Spray topcoat. The requirements for the degree of atomization are high, so choose a spray gun with a smaller diameter and good atomization. (diameter 1.5~1.8mm)
3) Small parts or crafts. (diameter 0.6~1.3mm)
4) Choose according to the amount of paint.
A. Small amount of paint and frequent color changes – gravity-type small spray gun (not suitable for upward painting).
B. The amount of paint is slightly larger and the colors are changed more frequently, especially when spraying the sides – a suction-top spray gun with a tank with a capacity of less than 1L. (Not suitable for spraying horizontal objects).
C. Continuous operation with large amount of paint and constant color – pressure feeding type (a paint booster box with a capacity of 10~100L can be used to increase the paint supply; if the amount of paint is larger, a pump and paint circulation pipe can be used to pressure feed the paint ).
